During winter time although I frequently work out it seems as if my body goes into hibernation mode. The girth around my waist gets a little out of line and my legs start to look a bit dimpled.
I have always been overly conscious about my body and have worked out on a regular basis since I was fourteen years old.
The thought of cellulite makes me want to cringe. So this spring when the weather in Texas was so intoxicatingly beautiful I decided to go for walks in my neighborhood.
The other day I decided to go off the beaten path and instead of walking on the trails through the park I decided to explore some of the neighborhood.
I walked on the sidewalks looking at the landscaping at other homes and before I knew it I had happened upon a treasure. The treasure was a small lake. This lake was beautiful with a splash of birds and frogs singing their songs. The surrounding vegetation was a beautiful shade of green.
Last night I walked by it again and I could hear the frogs singing their lullabies. There is something about that sound that calms my soul.
I know it was just a small lake, some would call it a pond, but in the midst of a city it was a hidden treasure in my eyes.
When I reflected on this treasure this morning I realized that I would have never discovered it if I had not decided to walk a different path that my usual.
I would like to challenge you, my readers, to walk a different path every now and again and see if you don’t happen upon an unexpected treasure.
