I heard the warning on the radio. I listen to the religious station 131 on my Sirius XM when I am driving to and from patients.

The FDA warning regarding Miralax was called in. The guy who hosted the show, who is also a pharmacist, had not been aware of this warning.

I started thinking about my dad. He recently got admitted to the nursing home and at 91 years of age, his favorite activity is sleeping. When I was back home a couple of weeks ago I asked for a change in his medication regimen. He was on 80 mg of Lipitor and that would make a full-size elephant weak and tired.

So I kindly printed off the side effects of this med and my mom underlined all of the ones which he experienced and soon the Lipitor was taken off of his medication regimen.

I had seen Miralax on his medication list also. At the time I thought, “NO biggie”. I remember a GI doc telling me to take that. I bought a couple of bottles, took one dose and threw the bottles away. My body works better with a natural plant-based laxative. If you keep reading you will know my body is pretty darn smart about medications. Just saying.

I heard the warning that the FDA released regarding Miralax saying it had caused neuropsychiatric adverse events. if you want to know what Miralax is: Miralax is pure polyethylene glycol – ethylene glycol is antifreeze. One molecule away from antifreeze. The reason why it is such a good laxative is that it is poison to your body – your body tries to expel it quickly.

Hmmm, then why does every doctor I know of try to push this poison on their patients? Probably because they don’t know chemistry and the close relationship between polyethylene glycol and ethylene glycol.

But that is not the worst. The worst part is that although this is not recommended for patients under 17 years of age, pediatricians have been prescribing Miralax to little children as if it is candy.

There have been reports of mania, paranoia, nervous tics and seizures by some children after being on Miralax only a short time. Some of them do NOT snap out of it either.

This drug is not FDA approved in children under age 17.
This drug is dangerous, as the FDA warned against “POSSIBLE NEUROPSYCHIATRIC EvENTS” in 2011.

I told my mom about this and immediately ordered some natural plant-based laxatives for my father to take. His doctor may actually know a thing or two after having to deal with me repeatedly.

Please warn others about this medication. It is very dangerous and I don’t want anyone getting hurt, especially the little children of single parents.
