There are times I question God on things which have been revealed in His word. One of the verses that I have pondered at great length is Mark 3:29. “But whoever says evil things against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven because he has committed an eternal sin.”
My worst fear is that in some way I have committed this sin without any intention. So I have pestered God about this, trying to understand…
Then the thing with Mike Pence blew up. He admitted that he heard the Holy Spirit talking to him.
The next thing I knew Joy Behar was calling him insane. “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you,” Behar said. “That’s called mental illness if I’m not correct. Hearing voices.”
The thought crossed my mind that she may have done the unthinkable. She may have committed a sin which was so grievous that it could not be forgiven.
Why on earth would that be so horrible as to call for eternal separation from God?
The main reason Jesus came to earth was to become a sacrifice for our sins. Yet there was so much more that he did. He healed the sick and ministered to sinners while on earth. When he ascended back up to heaven he did so to become a mediator for us. He knew full well how difficult it is to be a human.
The disciples begged him to stay here after he had risen from the dead. He said he had to ascend to heaven to release the Holy Spirit unto the earth. Jesus knew how much people need the Spirit of God to be living inside of them. He ministered to as many people as he could but since he was part human, he had limits.
The Holy Spirit has no limits. The only thing which limits the Holy Spirit is unbelief.
I still don’t understand fully how much this sin hurts God and why it is unforgivable but being able to identify what it is maybe a start.
Thank you, Joy Behar. I hope for your sake that I got it wrong.
