For all of my friends and family who have begged to read my novel, The Shattered Vase, I am now relenting, just a tad. Over the next few days, I will release excerpts from the first chapter. I am in the final stages of production and soon it should be available as an ebook. I would so appreciate if those who read my blog would be so kind as to buy either a print or ebook version of The Shattered Vase. Yet, if you can’t or don’t feel led to, know that you are very valued as a reader of my blog.
With much love,
Gracie Lynne
A BEAST IN THE BEDROOM
Suzie awoke with a horrible realization that
nothing had changed. She felt uneasy for the last couple of years.
When did this start? She couldn’t remember, but it was growing like
a malignant cancer, consuming her thoughts and maybe, even… her
heart.
She gazed at the walls of her bedroom. Jungle print was everywhere—on
the border of her safari tan walls, her bedspread. Even
her drapes looked like an African safari photo. It was suffocating.
The décor had been her husband’s obsession for the past two
years. Two years ago, her husband, Joe, had started a new hobby. He
started hunting. At least, that is what he said he was doing. He left to
go hunting but returned with no game. Suzie had her doubts but that
changed on one fateful weekend. To Suzie’s surprise, he took Friday
off from work to go hunting. He had refused to leave work for a family
vacation. When she married him, he hadn’t shown any yearning
to hunt. Now all he could talk about was his hunting trips? It seemed
like Suzie and the children had become invisible.
He left before sunup, his rifle packed along with other hunting
gear.
