TODAY WAS THE DAY HE WAS COMING HOME TO PACK HIS
clothes. He had only been gone a week, but to Suzie, it seemed like a
lifetime.
How many times had she reapplied her mascara? Was it five or six?
Tears make a miserable mascara remover.
Joe promised to be there at 9 p.m. Suzie glanced at the living room
clock as she walked back to the couch. It was 11:00 p.m. Well, she
would wait thirty more minutes, and then that was it. He would have to
come another day to pack his clothes. He still had a key. At least, she
thought he did. If not, tough luck. He could afford to buy new clothes.
If you are a single parent, divorce is most likely a part of your past. Even if it was your choice, it is still a loss. How did you process through the pain? Or was it a relief to walk away from a relationship which was abusive or controlling?

Divorce feels like a huge loss even when it isn’t. For me, I was devastated for months even though I knew it was for the best, and then I realized that I no longer had to walk on eggshells all of the time and it made me realize how much more freeing it was for myself and my kids
You put it so well my dear. I missed the presence of a man in my life, but I no longer missed the fear and anxiety that had come with my husband.
