The novel-The Shattered Vase

I finally approved the final proof of my novel, The Shattered Vase. I had submitted the manuscript in June and had hired a proofreader to go through it. However, it took four more months of grueling proofreading before I considered it good enough to release.

My publisher needed a short description and a long description. I thought would be impossible. I have worked on this novel for eight years and it is close to 500 pages long. There was no way I could condense it into a smaller form. Yet, I did just that and it took me a few rewrites but not near as many as I expected.

I wrote the author bio awhile ago and then revisited it and rewrote it again. Last week I looked at what I had written and I was not happy with it, which meant a rewrite was in store.

I spent some time in prayer before I rewrote my author bio and I wanted to share the bio with you before it got into print  (It is in italics to prevent confusion.)

AUTHOR BIO

Gracie Lynne started writing when her children were young. The joy of relating their antics to relatives through Christmas letters was her first venture. These letters were well received and several of her family members indicated that Gracie may have talent as a writer.

Soon after her third child was born; Gracie and her husband made the difficult decision to divorce.

Gracie became involved in a Church Single’s ministry and began writing, producing, directing and acting in plays for this ministry.

It was during this time that God put a calling on Gracie’s life to become a Christian author. Gracie felt led to start writing a novel, to establish her writing as an occupation.

In addition to working on The Shattered Vase, Gracie has also launched a blog for single parents. This blog can be found at www.spotublog.com.

Gracie would like to thank everyone who has read her blog and The Shattered Vase.  She welcomes comments and suggestions and can be reached at gracie.lynne@aol.com.

Gracie would like to acknowledge that without God’s presence in her life, The Shattered Vase could have never been written. This is His story, much more than it is hers.

When I wrote the last paragraph of this bio I felt as if my spirit was in complete surrender to God. Even though I was sitting in my kitchen, it was as if my spirit had crumbled into a prone position, glorifying God instead of me. It was the sweetest feeling of submission.

There is such a feeling of peace when you surrender to a God who sacrificed his one and only Son for all the wrongs that you have done. It is without a doubt a sweet surrender.

Please keep this project in prayer. I am beyond OCD when it comes to my writing for God. I ask prayer that the publisher I have hired will be as committed to excellence in the printing process as they have been so far. I also request prayer that this revised author bio will be the only one published.

Once again, I want to thank you for following my blog. Your continued support of me and my walk with God has meant so very much to me. You are very valued and appreciated.
