A TALE OF TWO CITIES

There are two cities in Texas which are an hour or two apart. One is Dallas and the other is Fort Worth.

Dallas thinks it is Manhattan. I have been to Manhattan. Dallas is no comparison.

People in Dallas are very proud of their location, that is, if they live in a good location.

People in Dallas have a tendency to be a bit uppity. Not saying that uppity is a bad thing, after all I have some uppity days too.

My daughter worked for a very successful real estate man in Dallas for a while. She was his executive assistant. He thought he was really something because of the location that his house was in. She thought that was funny because my house was twice the size as his was and probably a lot more beautiful.

In Dallas location means a lot. It means you have access to some of the best shopping and restaurants in the country. It means you have a chance to bump into celebrities. It also means you paid a whole lot of money to say you live on a certain street.

People in Fort Worth are different. Many of them have nice size homes that they paid very little for because it is not about location in Fort Worth. We like our space and we like our parks and we prefer to ignore all of the gas wells which litter our city.

There are the stockyards in Fort Worth which smell a bit like cow manure. Then there are the rodeos and the long horn cattle drives. Fort Worth people are just country hicks trying to act like they are city folk.

We could give a flying flip if our zipcode or location brings the “awww” out in someone.

I have friends in both cities and I am not implying that one is better than the other. (Although I did choose to live in Fort Worth and not Dallas. Tiny hint there that I may just have lied in that former sentence.)

I have dated several men from Dallas. They are quite the lot of gentlemen. Very accomplished and some have been very kind. My current sweet boyfriend is from Dallas and he is a gem.

The more I date men from Dallas the more I realize one thing; Dallas and Fort Worth may not be far apart in miles but they are worlds apart in perspective. What I think is so amazing is that the cities are so very different but there has never been a civil war between the two.

Maybe something that those factions in the middle east may want to study for a change.

Hello Iraq?

Yeah, I am talking to you!
