SPREADING THE GOOD NEWS

It seems as if Christians have become church mice. We scamper around doing our programs, having our fellowships and going to church on a regular basis. We pat ourselves on the back with our righteous living and fail to realize that our foremost priority should be to spread the good news.

In our comfort we have become negligent in our foremost commission from God. We are complacent when we see those who are lost; the homeless, the drug addicts, those who are ensnared in sexual exploitations and the mentally ill.

These are the ones we are commissioned to spread the good news to. Many times we turn and walk away from people such as this because to be around them makes us uncomfortable.

It takes a lot of effort to love someone who is lost, it takes only a second and a hostile glance to condemn them.

God did not call us to condemnation. He called us to compassion. More than that though He called us to spread the good news.

In Mark 1 Jesus was preaching in a synagogue when a demon spoke through a man and identified Him as the “Holy one sent from God.” If a demon can identify and proclaim Jesus how come it is so hard for us to do so?

Could it be because if we proclaimed the good news we may be held accountable for how we live our lives?

I believe that it is important to walk in love when we seek to draw a tormented soul from the grasp of Satan.

Condemnation and judgement reside in the authority of God, yet He has chosen to give salvation through the sacrifice of His son.

If you condemn others who are lost in the darkness of sin how can they know the light of God’s love which should be shining forth through your life?
