I was speaking the other day with my mother and she said she was concerned for my children. She wondered whether or not they were saved. They all have accepted Christ and have been baptized.
They don’t go to church though and I doubt that they pray much. No worries though, I pray tons for all of them. I sometimes think that God would be on overload in the prayer department if they actually prayed a fraction of the amount over their lives that I do. lol
I hate it when my Mom gets like this. She tends to shove religion down other people’s throats when God Himself does not do this. He waits until we are ready and waiting. He does not impose Himself on us.
I was thinking of this conversation which I shared with a friend of mine and I told him that it was my mother who I was worried about. She is quite elderly and although she talks a good talk she doesn’t walk the walk. She is the most bitter, complaining and unforgiving person I have met in my entire life.
The fact that she considers the sins which she has committed worth forgiving but those which have been done against her unforgivable is a sign that her salvation is in question.
My children on the other hand have grown up in a broken home and I have not always been the bastion of Christianity when dealing with their dad. They still seem to love both of us and have a great amount of love for their multitude of friends.
This conversation with my mother has caused me to reflect on what it takes to get into heaven. I think it may be that we are covered by the blood of Jesus but then we also must strive to be more like Him. I am thinking if you act more and more like Jesus your Spirit reflects His love and His forgiveness. The more you look like God’s Son, the more your chances are that you will slip into heaven unnoticed because you reflect Jesus in your heart and your mind.
Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t that what being a Christian is really all about? Becoming more like Christ and developing an intimate relationship with the Heavenly Father so that when you die, it isn’t about leaving earth, it is about coming home to the Father which you love more than life itself.
