Sometimes when I get a revelation from God it is done with the soft breeze of a whisper. Most times it is a thought which enters my mind and makes a lot more sense than my common thought process so I know it is a God thought. Sometimes I get a revelation that seems to stop my heart, it takes my breath away and I know without a doubt it is God’s Spirit breathing into me.
This morning I woke up at 3 am. I tried desperately to go back to sleep but I couldn’t. So I got up and started working through the study I am going to on Revelations. I was so encouraged as I was reading God’s word and after an hour of study I crawled back into bed and fell into a deep sleep. This morning I wanted to finish the study because we meet as a group to worship God this evening.
We are studying Revelations and are currently in Chapter 2 of this wonderful book of God’s word. I read Revelations 2:9 in the New King James Version. (9) “I know your works, tribulation and poverty (but you are rich) and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, because they are a synagogue of Satan.”
Then I felt the searing of my heart with God’s spirit. This verse could apply to those churches who worship under the Prosperity Gospel doctrine. The Wikipedia definition of prosperity theology is:Prosperity theology (sometimes referred to as the prosperity gospel, the health and wealth gospel, or the gospel of success)[A] is a Christian religious doctrine that financial blessing is the will of God for Christians, and that faith, positive speech, and donations to Christian ministries will increase one’s material wealth.
If money is the root of all evil and money is the topic which the preacher consistently preaches on, has not that church transformed into a Synagogue of Satan? There should be no confusion in the message which I am bringing to you. If your preacher is preaching anything but Christ you are being misled by a wolf in sheep’s clothing. How can that which is the root of all evil be in the same house as the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave His very life to defeat evil?
