Victoria Olsteen has done it again, open mouth and insert foot.

This is a recent quote that is causing quite the firestorm on social media…
“I just want to encourage every one of us to realize when we obey God, we’re not doing it for God—I mean, that’s one way to look at it—we’re doing it for ourselves, because God takes pleasure when we’re happy,” she said in the 36-second clip posted on YouTube, with her husband smiling at her side in approval. “That’s the thing that gives Him the greatest joy…”

Saying this I have to say I kind of get where she is coming from. God delights in our joy. I personally love hanging out with God. Yet we are not to go to church fOr ourselves but to humble ourselves and worship our almighty God.

I have more than this against this type of ministry though. I fear that those churches which give the podium over to the prosperity gospel are those which the Bible refers to as false prophets. These ministers espouse manipulation of the gospel for worldly gain.

I have attended churches such as these. There is little talk of Christ but much talk of material gain. If we can not serve God and manna both it begs to be asked, which God are they serving?
