PLANTING FLOWERS OF LOVE

Last year my daughter came up with a heartwarming idea for Mother’s day. She was going to take me shopping for flowers and we would plant them. I considered that a great idea because it was like planting flowers of love.. https://singleparents.dfwhostingwebsites.com/my-mothers-gift-of-gardening/

We made sure to pick out Perennials and planted them in a large pot in my beautiful backyard garden. They came back this year and they are just as pretty.

So, we decided to do the same thing again this year. The only problem was she was a bridesmaid in a wedding on Saturday night and she wasn’t expecting to get much rest before Mother’s day. That girl has been a bridesmaid in more weddings than I have been invited to!

I went to church and then out for lunch with some friends. While I was driving home I got a call from her. I could tell by her tone that she was exhausted.

We discussed the possibility of a reschedule but settled back into Sunday. I had hung up the phone when I got an urging from the Holy Spirit to call her back. I was supposed to suggest that we delay our get together from 2:00 pm till 3:00 pm and offer to pick her up and do the driving.

Well, I could have thrown a fit and said “Hello God? This is Mother’s day! Isn’t this supposed to be a day all about me?”

But I didn’t. I immediately called my daughter back and suggested what the Holy Spirit had informed me to.

She was so grateful to get another hour of sleep. I drove us to Lowe’s and also Calloways to buy some flowers and we got to gardening. It turned out to be a lovely day.

When we got in the car for me to drive her back to her home she asked for me to drive her somewhere else. She had left her car at the bride’s house the night before. As I was driving there she thanked me for driving. Because I had offered to drive she didn’t have to hire an uber to take her back to her car.

That is when it hit me that God knew that but I didn’t have a clue. I was so pleased that He considered my daughter’s needs in addition to my desires for Mother’s day. He is so good at planting flowers of love.

The picture on this page is the two pots my daughter and I have potted together. The one one the right is last year’s Mother’s day present and the one on the left is the current Mother’s day gift from my three children. I am so blessed and favored by God to call them mine!
