THE ORIGINAL SIN OF BLAMING

As I read through Genesis I find the story of the original sin so enlightening. Satan was very sly when he approached Eve.

He didn’t confront her with condemnation for her nakedness. He instead asked her a question, “Has God said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?'”

Eve set him straight,”No, He didn’t say that, he said we could eat from every tree just not one. That one which is in the midst of the garden. If we eat from that tree, or even touch it, we shall die.”

I imagine Satan paused for a moment and then said, “You will not die. God knows that if you eat it you will be like Him, knowing good and evil.”

Well, it is good to want to be like God isn’t it? Isn’t that the whole concept behind inviting Jesus into our hearts?

Not if you go the pathway of Satan. You can NOT get to God on that path.

I find it interesting that when God confronted them no one took responsibility for their sin. Adam blamed his sin on Eve and Eve blamed it on the serpent.

So often we do this in our life. We blame others for our sin. I have done so myself. If you confess your sin to God I believe it may be necessary for you to own your sin. Take responsibility for it. For you can not change someone else but through confession and the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ you may be able to change yourself.

  1. Not sure I want to be like God. Pretty big shoes to fill! I’m working hard enough just to be the schlep I am! Let alone have all the power of God. I doubt I could do the best with it, think I’d end up more like Jim Carrey in “Bruce Almighty.” But blaming… seems one can’t learn the lessons of life and grow, if one is not able to accept responsibility for the decisions that shape our lives.
