I read another blog today about a person who had yellow pus discharging from a wound and he thought his doctor was wrong in saying that he had nothing to worry about.
I thought back to the days I was a home health nurse and knew exactly what I would have told him and what I would have asked the doctor to do.
Since I have had some difficulty with severe arthritic pain I have stopped nursing for a while and have been forced to launch this new career as a successful blogger.
I miss my patients and also the teaching I used to do while on home health visits. So I am starting a new series of posts and I am going to try and pull in new readers for health information and teaching.
The category is going to be entitled HEALTH SMARTS.
In this category I will provide some teaching about different aspects of your health.
The first thing I want to emphasize to you is that your doctor is not God. They do not have the ability to heal your body, only God can do that.
What they do have is the ability to direct you to God’s plan for healing your body.
They also have the ability to mend fractured bones and fix various organs of the body which are diseased, plus a whole host of other wonderful techniques which can increase the quality and quantity of your life.
I think that most doctors walk around like they think they are God because they are highly intelligent and have worked very hard to refine that intelligence. They deserve immense respect but they do not deserve worship.
So don’t give them your life on a silver platter.
In other words you need to own your own health.
If you smoke, drink and sit around eating junk food at some point in time they will not able to fix you.
It is your responsibility to make healthy choices, not theirs to make for you.
Even if they are the best in their field they too are human and they may make a mistake. That doesn’t mean you have the right to sue them for everything that they have worked so hard to achieve.
If they made a mistake and you are in constant pain you may want to sue them enough that they remember your pain daily but don’t ruin their life.
I have worked with a great many doctors and the majority of them were kind, compassionate and hard working people.
I have also gone to doctors for some problems I have had. I have had only a very small number which I thought could have been a bit more compassionate in their response to me.
In my practice I was a bit dismayed at how many of my patients looked to their doctor for things which they could and should have fixed on their own.
This category will teach you how to do that. I hope you enjoy it and I welcome your positive feedback.
Tomorrow I will launch a post about a really cool website entitled Drugs.com
