I met a friend last night for drinks and we shared our stories about being single parents. He said his daughter had a tendency to have recurrent strep throat infections.

I have had experience in that department with both of my boys. While they were living in Florida with their dad they both had MRSA infections in their skin.

My ex-husband cut my oldest son loose from his health insurance policy as soon as he could.(narcissistic jerk)

My concern was a recurrence of the MRSA because this son had already had two outbreaks.

I took to the internet and discovered that MRSA can be put into remission by a maintenance dose of Goldenseal. After he had his collar bone surgery I had him take two pills twice a day of Goldenseal and he recuperated well with no occurrence of MRSA.

It was July 4th weekend when my youngest son was flying back to Texas from Florida to spend some time with me. His dad had already moved back to Texas with his third wife and I was to pick my son up from the airport.

I picked him up and my heart broke as he shed tears saying he missed his girlfriend in Florida.

The next day he complained of a sore throat.

I figured it was just his immune system breaking down because of his heartache but the complaints kept coming.

This is a kid who does not complain much so I asked to take a look at his throat.

It was covered in pus pustules. I suspected strep throat as the culprit.

None of the doctor’s offices were open at the time so I had to put my thinking cap on.

Having had a history of nursing and having previously done research on MRSA I checked my library of books on herbal supplements.

In the Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine by Dr. Michael Murray it suggested Goldenseal and Echinacea as a cure for Strep throat in addition to Ginger as an analgesic.

Within a span of 3-5 days his throat had cleared up.

Now am I telling you not to take your child to the doctor if they complain of Strep throat?

NO!

I am merely saying there are options if you can not get to a doctor’s office.

In no way should anyone think that Strep throat is a disease that should not be treated. I know of a man who died from this infection and only after all of his extremities rotted off. It is a nasty bacteria.
