My son came home from college last night. Having him walk through the door was the only Christmas present I need this year. He is such a blessing from God in so many ways I can not count them.
He asked me how I was doing. I said, “I am a bit down. The sales of my book are a bit slow. https://store/bookbaby.com/book/The-Shattered-Vase
I have to keep reminding myself that the book has only been available for two weeks. A book like mine may take a bit to build up steam. He told me that one of his friends was going to buy it for his mother. Then a little later he said that his friend was actually buying two books; one for his Mom and one for himself. (Do you understand why I thank God every single day for my son?)
Yet my blessings from God don’t stop there. I have a son and new daughter-in-law who live in Maryland. That son works at the NIH and is working on a doctorate in immunotherapy.
He is reading my novel. He is my litmus test as to see whether my novel will touch the masses.
Being a scientific genius he believes in God and Jesus but needs empirical proof. So his opinion of my book is essential for me to gauge the response of the vast majority.
He constantly tells me how proud he is of me for writing this book. A characteristic I had as a single mother was my undying support for their dreams. I did not have that from my parents so that is an organic trait given to me by God. Yet God has brokern that generational curse and now not only do I support their dreams but they support mine.
The blessings are overflowing in my life. Not only do I have two amazing sons and one fabulous daughter-in-law but I have a precious daughter and new son-in-law. My daughter is amazing! She is beautiful, smart, socially adept (she did not get that from me) and she just nabbed the greatest man in the world as her husband this summer. Those two just exude joy when they are together.
Well, guess what I am doing for Christmas? I am invited to my daughter’s house for Christmas! She is hosting me for the big dinner! I am so thrilled I can barely sit still. The only thing I have to bring is a fabulous pie, all other cooking will be her responsibility.
I have made huge holiday meals every year since the children were tots. I enjoy cooking but it is a chore and I usually make a mess of my kitchen. To have someone else take the responsibility is like a breath of fresh air.
As we celebrate Christmas and reconnect with our loved ones, my mind goes back to the night when it all started.
A little baby born in a manger.
Surely God must have loved His son, Jesus. He said so in Matthew 3:17 – “And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him, I am well pleased.”
Jesus would steal away in the middle of the night to talk with His Father. The love they had was undeniable.
But God loved you so much that he gave His only son, so that you may have eternal life.
If you have not accepted that love, would you please consider it this Christmas?
It doesn’t matter if you are Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, or some other kind of religion. God sacrificed His only son so that He could love on you for eternity.
All you must do is believe and ask Jesus into your heart and if you do that my Christmas wish has been fulfilled.
I hope you have the Merriest of Christmases!

book in it or something. I think that you can do with some pics to
drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is fantastic blog.
