My cats are obsessive compulsive about some things. They don’t like things on the floor that are not supposed to be there. They also don’t like items on my couches that are misplaced.
When they find something out of order in my home they have an irritating way of pointing my attention to the infraction. They empty their bladder on the offending item.
There is nothing I hate worse then the smell of cat urine.
So I do everything within my power to eliminate that smell quickly. Well, okay maybe not quickly, but I do eventually take care of it.
Lately one of my kitties was offended by a crumpled paper towel on my sofa. This feline proceeded to wave the red flag to me by marking the area with his/her urine.
So last night I finally had had enough of the smell. I was taking those cushions to a laundromat.
I hadn’t even got in the door when the attendant said I couldn’t wash my couch cushions there.
My initial reaction was,”Don’t you tell me what I can and cannot do because you have no idea how long I have put up with this stink.”
I didn’t respond that way though.I chose a different path than confrontation.
I chose the path of friendship.
I asked her what machines I could use. She was right, I wouldn’t be able to wash my large cushions but some of the smaller ones I could wash.
As I continued to talk to her I began to understand her and even admire her for her knowledge about the machines. We continued to talk while I was washing just two of my cushions.
By the time I was done with my two cushions I had gained a new friend.
I had asked God to protect me at the laundromat because it was late at night and located next to several bars. I had no idea his protection would involve making a new friend. What a blessing!
