Yesterday I laid out the carbon footprint that the Keystone Pipeline would leave if it was allowed to run. Remember I said that it would be equal to 5.5 million cars added to our roads?
So if this does go through let’s look at how government and big oil companies will most likely spin this carbon footprint.
I live in Tarrant County Texas. This county has the most gas wells in the country. So far it has been a very peaceful existence with no disaster or leaks into our water.
There are a lot of people who think that gas drilling is horrible for the environment. I would agree but they fail to point out one very important fact.
It takes two-four million gallons of water to do one frack job. And we have a load of fracking jobs going on in my county.
Now that wouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that we have had drought for the past few years and those wells keep popping up all over the city.
The city is very concerned about citizens overwatering our lawns and our flowers. In fact I have gotten several warnings about my run off going onto the street.
My response to those warnings is to try to create as much difficulty for the city and everyone involved in water department as I can. I figure if they have the nerve to be worried about the small amount of water that I am sending back into the system then they probably need to get their head out and look at what the gas wells are taking out of our supply.
Back to the carbon footprint. One pipeline can equal 5.5 million cars on the road. I can only see one outcome from this and that is that the government will start to regulate how much we can drive because the problem of the carbon dioxide emissions will be blamed on us, the little people.
It happened in my county with the gas drilling. The little people have to go without so the big companies can have a feast and get filthy rich.
I think I need to create a bit more of a stink the next time I get one of those stupid warnings about my run off and let the city council and mayor know just what I think of their harassment.
I also think that we need to do everything we can to stop this pipeline from crossing into our country. If not we may be giving up more liberties than we already have had to give up.
Creating difficulty for the city you live in about your water usage I don’t believe will make much of a dent in the problem of the Keystone Pipeline. I do believe it will have a one or two of the “small people” at city hall going home to their husbands/wives saying, “Honey you won’t believe what happened to me today!”
I’m thinking that the power to change belongs to the people. Your having a blog, I’d be thinking that using the power of posts to start a campaign against the pipeline would be something that if strong enough might cause a ripple or two on Capitol Hill. In my mind the question would be, how to accomplish a movement of that type.
There are already tons of people who have activists groups dedicated to that cause. That is not the reason I launched this blog, nor will it ever be. I have much bigger fish to fry than that. I merely want people to be informed of the facts and not believe the lying sob Republicans and Oil men. Saying that, I have friends and associates which are both Republicans and Oil men. They aren’t all sob’s.
