I don’t know how many times I have said as a mother that I did not have an instruction book for that role in life.
I was wrong.
When you buy a new product you usually read or at least try to read the instruction manual right? The instruction manual is provided by the manufacturer.
Well, humans have an instruction manual provided for by our creator that is the best instruction manual ever written. It is called the Bible.
As I lumber through life I have continually found that when I go back to the instruction manual of my creator I am set on the right course.
It has taken me 51 years to learn that it beats any self-help book, any motivational dvd and it even beats the pants off of Oprah.
If your life is careening out of control, and you can not figure out how to get it back on course, I would say for you to go back to the instruction manual.
It is the best seller of all time, written by the highest authority and who on earth knows better how we should live than the amazing God who created us?
I hope my dear readers accept this post with fervent zeal. For in the Bible it says in Psalms 1 that if we delight in the law of the Lord and meditate on it day and night we shall be like a tree planted by rivers of water. We will bear fruit in its season and our leaf shall not wither. And in this passage it gives a promise of prosperity.
I would like to challenge you to tell me what manufacturer gives that kind of promise for free.
Gracie, very nice post. Are you familiar with the “system restore” on your computer . If all sorts of crazy happens and you can’t fix it you just go to “system restore” and it will reset your computer exactly as it was on some previous date. Well, that’s what the Bible is too. Whenever we stray from the truth we just need to download the program and get ourselves back on the right path.
And as far as raising kids goes, this is what God instructed his people to do in regard to His Law and his Precepts. This is Deuteronomy 6:7
“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”
This is one of my favorite passages and I did it.
Good analogy. Thank you. I might write a post on that idea. I am so bad about wanting to steal your words. Shame on me but I do always ask for your permission before I do so I guess that is not stealing, more kind of like borrowing.
