HOW WAS YOUR EASTER?

How was your Easter?

Mine was fabulous!

It started out with hosting a dinner at my house. I was first going to just invite my daughter and her husband. Then I got to thinking… Anyone who has read this blog knows that when I get to thinking there is about to be some fun!

I thought about my daughter’s mother-in-law, she recently got divorced and in the past has been kind enough to invite me to her family gatherings. I figured this would be a grand opportunity to return the favor. Then I remembered that my daughter’s brother-in-law was living in a nearby suburb and I needed to make sure to invite him too.

So I called my daughters mother-in-law and asked her. She said she had already planned something. I persisted. She is working at an alternative high school and working on her master’s degree. I figured she could use a day of rest. She relented.

My boyfriend was nice enough to cook the ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, potato salad and a couple of pies. I cooked a gourmet potato dish, apple praline bread, a Strawberry Chiffon salad and Prieska. (That last thing is like a miniature apple pie. It is from Russia and out of this world delicious!)

We had such a fabulous dinner party! So much laughter and good times. They raved over the food and were such delightful guests!

Then on Saturday my sweet boyfriend and I worked on filling in my garden with beautiful flowers. That was not much fun, but it needed to get done.

Then today I was late for church again! I stood in the overflow and was just about to score a comfy seat when I felt someone brush my side and I looked down and saw one of my favorite friends!

I was elated!

So we sat together in church and then went out to eat lunch with other friends after church. I took her to the restaurant and back to the church parking lot. We sat in my car and talked for a couple of hours before we parted ways. I love that girlfriend to the moon and back!

Then I came home and took my dog for a walk to try to walk off all of the goodies I ate because of Easter.

I know that Easter isn’t just about family.

I know it is about the crucifixion and the resurrection, but somehow I think that Jesus was pleased with this Easter because it was full of life.

When I think about my walk with him I would say that He is the most life giving part of me.
