I recently had a growth spurt on this blog. What caused the growth spurt? A whole lot of problems!
It started when I was back at home in Nebraska, visiting my mother. I don’t know what got into me, but I was down in my Dad’s office.
I love being in his office. He passed away last year and I miss him so. I soak up his essence when I am in that room.
I must have gotten bored cause I started doing funky things with the back office of my blog and then when I got back to Texas I continued.
Pretty soon I had updated to WordPress 5. I realized that it was going to be a challenge not to use profanity every time I needed to post a blog with that update. Decreasing profanity in my vocabulary has been a long term goal. I am getting much better at it, but the Word press 5 was about to undo me.
So I figured out how to disable the update and load the previous classic editor. To get the specs on that, click on the following link.https://singleparents.dfwhostingwebsites.com/wordpress-5/
Yet, I still could not figure out which of my plugins was blocking the ad for my novel on the sidebar. So I went through the lot of them and found the culprit. It was my jetpack plugin. So I disabled it. My ad came back and I thought everything would be just dandy.
Until a friend of mine told me that he had not gotten a post emailed to him in all of February. Gads, I apologized and thanked him for telling me this and then went back to the drawing board.
I called WordPress and talked with them for a bit. I spent a good sum of money for that privilege and they could not help me with this, but they did help me put a pop up ad for my novel on my blog. After that got installed I thought it may be okay to delete the widget on the sidebar.
I figured out that jetpack was the plug in which was sending out emails. I liked that the way they did that so I reinstalled the plug in.
Then today I was going to start jacking with my permalink. I got a fatal error and so I had to call my server. In talking with her I realized that it may be a wise idea to change the domain name on my blog. I initially started the blog to attack the family court system but I soon changed course. It transformed into a broader goal set than defeating moronic judges and idiotic family law attorneys. So we discussed the domain name and currently I have changed it to https://www.singleparentssurvival guide.com
At any point in this process I could have thrown in the towel but I didn’t. I looked to transform a problem into a potential for growth. I believe this growth spurt will be a turning point for my blog and my writing career.
