WHEN GOD TAKES CONTROL

I said a little prayer this morning and asked God to be a part of my day.

I had to get up early because my sweet car had an appointment at the dealership for a recall notice.

I was late – my normal – this time worse than usual. I pulled into the dealership 30 minutes after the time I had said I would arrive.

When I got there they said that they may have to order the part and I may need to come back another day to get the work done.

I replied with a smile, “How long do you think it will take you to figure this out?”

The man said he would get me the info ASAP. Then he directed me to the customer lounge.

I walked in with half a cup of coffee. I glanced over and saw a portly old man who immediately introduced himself to me and said that they had no coffee in the lounge. He stated that there was coffee in the other lounge though.

He also told me that he had been married for 52 years and he would be happy to watch my purse while I walked over to get some coffee.

It is not that I didn’t trust him but my purse has handles and I can carry my cup and my purse with no problem. So the purse came with me.

I did let him babysit my Kindle and a book I was reading. My Kindle is my most cherished gift from my children so that was a big thing.

After I put my reading items down on a chair I glanced at him quickly and asked him if he would like a cup of coffee.

He lit up and said, “Yes!” Then proceeded to profusely thank me.

The check for cream and sugar was made. He drank coffee with no additives, just like me.

I set out to go fetch the coffee.

I warmed up my coffee and got a cup for him then made my way back to the customer lounge where he sat.

As soon as I had given him his coffee the man from the dealership said that they did not have my part in and I would have to come back in a couple of days.

I said, “Well, I guess I drove here just to get you your cup of coffee.” A smile crossed my face.

I didn’t accomplish what I set out to do this morning but I accomplished so much more. I was able to give a man a cup of coffee and brighten his day.

I drove home with a smile splitting my cheeks. I love it when God takes control and sends me out as a messenger of His love.

It took less than an hour but it made my whole day.
