I went to a new hair dresser yesterday. It wasn’t because I had any problem with my old hair dresser it was just that I didn’t want to drive so far to get my hair colored. So I met someone new at a nearby hair salon.
She was a single mother so of course I liked her. I told her about this blog and that it was Christian in its perspective but I also told her it was not “preachy.”
We talked about the prevalent attitude of most Christians which is unfortunately condemnation of those who are lost.
As I was thinking about our conversation tonight a thought entered my mind. “Do you really think God would sacrifice His one and only Son for our salvation if He was so intent on condemnation?”
In Jesus’ day there were religious people who were called Pharisees which condemned everyone else as they looked down from their self righteous thrones.
Today we have politicians who use self-righteous condemnation to justify certain laws and prejudices.
Don’t get me wrong, I think going by God’s laws is the best way to live your life but it doesn’t justify us.
We are only saved through one act and that was not something we did. We are saved through the blood of Jesus and He died for everyone.
Yep, He died for homosexuals, homeless people, people with HIV, strippers, prostitutes, drug addicts, transsexuals, transvestites, murderers and thieves.
In fact one of the women that Jesus was closest to was a prostitute. I am sure He called her His friend.
He had a different name for the Pharisees. He called them vultures.
