EVICTION NOTICE

If you had a tenant in a very beautiful mansion that tore the home up what would you do?

They allowed their animals to defecate on the white carpet. The house was so messy that to find a path to walk through the house was more difficult than finding Waldo.

Although the initial rental agreement stated that they would be responsible for landscaping they refused to mow the lawn.

Last time you checked the dishes were piled up in the sink and cockroaches were on the kitchen counter.

It wouldn’t take me long to give an eviction notice.

Now I want you to use your imagination and pretend that your mind is the mansion.

What kind of thoughts, memories and emotions do you rent space to?

Do you focus on all of the hurtful memories?

Do you ruminate about what that narcissist said?

Do you replay the act of betrayal which stabbed your heart with pain?

It is a human fallacy that to focus on negative things will change them into positive.

In Philippians 4:8 Paul says, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things.”

It appears as if we are not to ruminate about the evil that has been done to us.

If we choose to focus on the evil, we open the door to Satan’s plans for our life.

So next time a bad memory seeps in through your door, give it an eviction notice and open the door to what is good instead.
