In September I shared with my readers a tragic accident that my brother had experienced. He flew off of a four wheeler after hitting a truck and broke his sixth and seventh vertebrae.
When breaking those two bones you can either die or be paralyzed. He did neither.
He was flown to Lincoln, Ne and underwent surgery. The first surgery did not stabilize the neck enough so he had to go in for another surgery.
When my mother first told me about this accident I was horrified. I love my brother and adore his wife.
When I tapped into the Spirit of God within me I had peace, a very strange thing to have considering the circumstances. I knew he would be all right. I also knew that God was going to do a work through this accident.
I drove to Nebraska after Thanksgiving to see him, his wife and my parents. His neck was fine but he had also had a g-tube for feeding.
The g-tube had been removed but his stomach was not closing up. He would leak onto the dressing every time he ate.
A long time ago I heard about a woman who was in a room with a very sick individual. She saw the presence of Jesus in the room and he told her to pray for the sick person.
She said,”Why do I have to pray when you are already present?”
Jesus replied “Your prayers open up the power from heaven for healing.”
I was thinking of this story as I listened to my brother’s worries about his stomach. That night I asked God forgiveness for not praying for this sooner and asked him to heal my brother’s stomach.
The next night my brother and his wife took me out to eat. He drank two full glasses of lemonade and ate a full meal. At the end of the meal he said his stomach hadn’t leaked at all.
He has not had any leaking after that night.
I am continually amazed at God and thankful that He would wait until I was present to perform the healing. To witness His power, in such a wonderful way, for someone I love so deeply as my brother, was remarkable.
I fear that we demean the power of prayer and suffer God with our useless whining and complaining about life when we could move mountains if we only pray with faith.
When you speak to God remember just who it is that you are speaking to and do not pray with doubt. A prayer spoken with doubt is a prayer spoken without any hope of that prayer being answered.
