DESPAIR

We are all engaged in spiritual warfare. Whether you admit it or not, there is a battle over your life.In the previous post I introduced Hope. Her archenemy is Despair.

The following excerpt is from The Shattered Vase.

As Hope passed the threshold of the home, she could smell Despair,
like a rotten egg. She held back the instinct to vomit.
The house looked empty. The sound of silence was threatening. No
sign of life; neither the children, nor Suzie. What had happened?

I have encountered both Hope and Despair in my life. I have found it very easy to slip into despair when things are not going as I expected.

The last couple of weeks have been tumultuous for me. Finally, I asked a friend of mine to meet me for lunch. She is older than me but she is so young at heart she lifted my spirits.
Sometimes the only way to crawl out of the abyss of despair is to reach your hand up and have someone else grasp it, pulling you safely to the surface. The worst thing you can do is isolate and lick your wounds.
