CHRIST AND MY CACTI

Today I realized that my cactus pot needed some attention. It is a few years old and my cacti have turned into little monsters. They extend their prickly arms all over the place. As I looked closer I saw that one of the succulents and also a cactus plant needed to be dug out.

As I was digging out the dead cacti I saw a portion of one of my plants which was on the soil, but dead. I was amazed when I realized that two new buds were shooting off of the dead part. This reminded me of my life in Christ. I have to die to my own desires before He can start to live through me.

Then I glanced at my other pot of cacti, which had just been given to me this year by a friend. Unlike my older cacti pot, it was ablaze with cacti blossoms. The funny thing about this was that those blossoms were hot glued on top of the cacti plants by the store who sold them.

I was appalled by this when I first saw it but I have since seen this practice in almost every store which sells cacti. If they keep doing this how is a cacti suppose to bloom naturally?

Then I thought about how some Christians go to church, putting on their cloak of religion and act all self righteous like they are better than others. They disregard and disrespect those who are down and out and claim to worship a man who was actually homeless. Their religion is like a fake blossom glued to their head. They look pretty but God surely sees them for what they are.

It is necessary for us to die in order that Christ can live through us. For me it is something I try to do on a daily basis because the last thing I need is a stinking cacti blossom hot glued to my head.
