CAR TROUBLES

This day was a big day for me. I was supposed to take my first patient for my home health company. I was excited and also a bit scared about how I would do.

On my way to the patient’s house I got a phone call from my son. He had car troubles. In fact his car was smoking.

His father has recently moved to Arkansas. I don’t know a thing about cars but his dad is very good about figuring out cars even though he has never claimed to be an auto mechanic.

When I talked to my son I told him to call his dad. His dad didn’t answer.

I don’t know what it is about that car but as soon as his dad crosses the Texas state line it throws a fit and creates some sort of problem.

I was about ready to freak because I was already late for my appointment and I could not go help my son. But instead of freaking I politely asked his dad to call our son and guess what? He did. He was back in Texas to pick up some things. He not only called our son but he also went and helped him fix his car. Yeah Dad!

I love when he does that because not only does he help my son out but I know he is teaching him how to be smart like he is about cars.

I think it is kind of like the saying, “don’t buy someone a fish, teach them how to fish.” It is important that we as parents try to teach our kids how to fend for themselves while also helping them out as much as we can.
