CALL ME TUESDAY – BOOK REVIEW

I asked my boyfriend to buy this book for me because I told him it was a story about child abuse and I have a heart for abused children.

I had no idea I would not be able to put the book down. The author takes you through the roller coaster which was her childhood.

At the high point of her life her mother was kind and playful with her. Although she seemed to take a second seat to her sister, Audrey, who was her mother’s “angel”.

Then tragedy struck and her mother fell down some steps. Somehow this changed her mother and Leigh became the scapegoat for her mother’s anger and suffered horrible abuse as a result.

The abuse she suffered was horrific and cruel. It is unthinkable to imagine that a mother could do such things to her daughter. Yet it happened and it continues to happen to other children.

Throughout this book and all of the abuse I sensed a strong spirit within this child. A spirit which would survive and somehow turn the evil she suffered into a guiding light for others who are abused.

I would recommend this book to absolutely everyone. It is important to be aware of this evil in order to know how to fight it and stomp it out. Leigh Byrne takes you inside of her world and slyly incorporates what signs people should look for to identify child abuse.

I will warn you about one aspect of this book. You had better set a day aside just to read it because it is so well written you will not be able to walk away.
