ALL THINGS

Sometimes God amazes me at how wonderfully he takes care of me and my children. In the Bible, it says, “All things work together for good.”

I had decided to drive to Tyler, Texas on the Saturday of Easter weekend. I had some food I wanted to share with my son who lives in Ruston, Louisiana.

Tyler is halfway between Ruston and Fort Worth. So my son and I drive two hours a piece and we get to see each other.

I used to just package the food and send it, but over Christmas, I had problems with the postal service. I sent him some goodies on the 11th of December and they didn’t get there until the first week in January. It was a bit unsettling. That is when we came up with the Tyler plan.

So I left early in the morning and met him at Tyler. We ate at Cracker Barrel. While visiting with him he said that he had had a headache when driving through Louisiana. As soon as he crossed the state line and entered Texas, his headache disappeared.

We both assumed it was allergies. I made sure to buy him some nasal spray after I took him to a movie. I figured that was all it would take.

As the next week began, the Holy Spirit kept prompting me to text him and ask him how he was feeling. So on Tuesday, I did. He said he still had a headache.

I asked him what color drainage he had.

He said, “it was green.”

That is when I freaked out. That meant, without a doubt, it was a bacterial infection. A bacterial infection which is in the brain can cause a person to have a stroke. I told him he had to get to a doctor immediately. He did and got on antibiotics and soon the headache had disappeared.

As I reflected on this I realized several things. If that package had arrived on time in December I may have sent the food instead of driving it down. My son does not complain and I would not have known he had a bacterial infection.

If I was not a nurse I would not have known the danger of a sinus infection that has gone into the brain. I happened to have had a patient who had multiple strokes which started with a sinus infection.

If the Holy Spirit hadn’t kept nudging me to text him and call him the next week who knows what may have happened?

That is just what is so wonderful about being a Christian. You are truly never in it alone.
