A TREASURE CHEST OF FAITH

Recently I have been a bit plagued with depression and doubt. I have been angry with God for several things and I have been ridden by doubt about my future.

As I have toiled day to day the Holy Spirit has gently reminded me of times past when I knew that God was present in my life. Miracles great and small which have built my faith.

In the times of the old testament shepherds had staffs which were long canes. On these canes they would engrave little markings which would bring to their memory God’s work in their lives.

I have thought about this lately and have decided that I want to start a treasure chest of faith. I will write down memories of times which I was grateful for the protection and provision of God. I will store these memories in a wooden box which I have in my parlor.

That way when doubt comes knocking at my door again I can open up my treasure chest and read about all of the times when God has been present in my life. In my remembrance I know I will be grateful for His presence and His intervention in my life.

Throughout our life we have keepsakes of memories. Memories of our children and loved ones. We have scrapbooks of memories which will only last our lifetime. Wouldn’t it be wise to have a treasure chest of memories which are eternal also?
