I have a Maltese and a Calico. They are my bed buddies. Those two are my cuddle bugs every single night.
The Calico cat I have had for close to twenty years. She has been a purr factory from the start.
The Maltese was a recent addition. He was making eyes at me when I used to go visit his owners.https://singleparents.dfwhostingwebsites.com/my-companion/ They were good friends of mine but they both passed away a couple of years ago. By God’s grace I inherited their dog.
When I first got the Maltese, Pete, I had to learn which food he liked to eat and had to train him a bit not to mess on my floor. One day he refused to eat. At the same time I noticed a black crusty bit of junk on his underside and of course I thought he had cancer. I melted into tears and begged him to eat but he continued to keep his mouth shut tight.
I took him on a walk and while I was walking him I heard a gentle voice say,”He’s not eating because he knows he needs to go to the bathroom. He doesn’t want to disappoint you with another mess on the floor so he would rather not eat than disappoint you.”
I know this may weird you out but I believe that gentle voice was the Holy Spirit because as soon as he did his business on our walk he was eating again.
I have figured out that the black crusty junk is actually a fungal infection and after a shampoo with Denorex it disappears.
My Calico cat is a total honey! Every time I wake up in the middle of the night she is right beside me purring up a storm. I pet her every time she does this because this is sometimes the only time she gets petted. At times it is just a teensy bit annoying because I really just want to go back to sleep.
A little while ago that same gentle voice gave me a revelation regarding my Calico. I heard that she was purring beside me to comfort me, not to steal my sleep or catch up on petting time.
That gave me a whole different perspective on her. In fact, when Pete first came to our house she circled him and purred loudly. She welcomed him fully because she knew that he would be a comfort to me like she herself has been.
I love my bed buddies so much but to think that God would reveal their innermost thoughts and motivations literally just melts me.
In addition to cuddling with my bed buddies I also like to read. My favorite book of all time is The Shattered Vase by Gracie Lynne.
