My daughter got married last weekend. What a celebration it was! She and her mate are so well suited for each other. They just shine with happiness when they are with each other.
They both are such wonderful people that the wedding party was quite large. They had the ceremony in a venue which was luxurious in its beauty.
I was a bit anxious because they did not have it in a church. I didn’t know the pastor they had secured for the sermon. I remember the pastor I had had for my wedding and how embarrassed I had been over his sermon. So I was a bit nervous.
Then the pastor started speaking. At first there was quite a bit of laughter because the room was brimming over with joy but when the pastor started preaching he spoke the most relevant sermon I had ever heard at a wedding and maybe even in my lifetime.
He spoke of the symbolism of the church and Jesus as being like husband and wife. He spoke of the need for my daughter’s husband to love her so much that he sacrifices his needs daily for her.
He said that marriage was not just a legal document but a covenant agreement between two people and God.
It was the most God honoring wedding I have ever attended. I could not have been more pleased. I thank God daily for my new son and for the blessing of His Word being spoken over the marriage between him and my daughter.
What a delightful way to begin marriage.
