My daughter just got back from a fabulous honeymoon with her new husband. She came over today to start moving her boxes over to their apartment. She gave me the biggest hug ever and told me she had missed me on her trip. (I am seriously not believing that because the pictures she posted of their trip to Europe were breathtaking and I know her and her new hubby are soulmates. Nonetheless, it made me feel so good inside when she said that.)
I am so proud of her for all that she has accomplished since moving back in with me. She has got a degree and a job which pays better than any job I have ever had to this date. My daughter has met and married the man of her dreams. She has nurtured new friendships and retained ones which she has had since Junior high. I have seen her transform from a petulant teenager into a gracious young lady.
I know I will miss my daughter but I am so thrilled that she is so well suited for her husband.
My daughter is moving into the city, while I live in the suburbs. We will only be a 20-30 minute drive from each other but we are both very busy girls. I will be putting the finishing touches on my novel and starting the companion Bible Study Guide to my novel. Plus I have plenty of social invites due to all of the wonderful single groups in the area. She, on the other hand, will be the most amazing wife to her lucky husband. She is so excited about decorating their new apartment. They are a very popular couple and get invited to many events with friends. Then she also has to return to her job as a respiratory therapist working the night shift.
So I was already getting a bit nervous and sad about her moving out when she said the most precious thing ever. “Mom, we don’t have a washer and dryer. Is it okay if I bring my wash over and do it at your house?”
If I had any gymnast expertise I would have done cartwheels and handsprings all over my house. I had to hold myself back and not scream at the top of my lungs “YES, OF COURSE, YOU CAN DO YOUR WASH AT MY HOUSE!!! THAT WAY I GET TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!”
I just said very nonchalantly, “Well, I don’t see a problem with that at all.”
Tonight when I say my prayers I am going to thank God for a very unusual item. I will be thanking him for dirty laundry and also my washer and dryer.
