I went to Good Friday service tonight with my sweet daughter. The sermon was good but it did not impact me as much as a song that was sung before the service. The song mentioned that when Jesus proclaimed that He was the Messiah the Jews were disappointed. They wanted a king who would deliver them from political bondage. God wanted to deliver them from spiritual bondage.

As I was thinking about this I realized that many times we as Christians pray for things which will make life easier. We seldom pray for God’s will to be done and take our grip off of the request. If we had a choice between getting a King who could make our life easier and free us from political oppression and a King who could ensure us eternity in heaven with a God who we could not visualize which one would you choose?
