A couple of months ago I noticed that my brake light was lit up on the dashboard. I also noticed that the ABS light was shining bright. The last thing I needed was a hefty bill for repairing my car. So I started praying.
I prayed some more and the light kept shining, so I took my car into an automotive shop, where I had a coupon for a free brake check. They said the brakes didn’t really need to be fixed yet but they needed to do a diagnostic test on my car to see why the light was shining.
I asked them how much time that would take. “A whole day,” they answered. I asked them if they were open on Saturdays. They said,”No, that is our day to spend with our families.”
I was not willing to take a whole day off of work for my car. In addition to having a car repair bill they also wanted me to jeopardize my pay and maybe my job? Nope, that was not a winning solution in my book.
So I went to my dealership and told them the problem. They said that they would have to do a diagnostic but that they were open on Saturdays. I set up an appointment. They said the diagnostic was $99 and that the repair was most likely not covered by my warranty. (FYI so far nothing has been covered by my warranty that I have needed to repair on my car.)
I ended up not going to the appointment because I figured even if I could afford the diagnostic bill I would be hard pressed to afford the final bill.
I continued to pray and then called my friend David and asked him what I should do. He said, “Are your brakes working?”
I said, “Yes.” He basically told me not to worry about it then.
I continued to pray though, just for reassurance, if nothing else. Then one day I listened to my motor and thought I heard a strange sound. I opened the hood and located the source of the sound. It was a tiny twig near two electrical wires. I flicked it off and closed the hood.
My brake light has not come on again since.
Who would have thought God could fix a Hyundai Elantra? The most amazing thing about this is, that He has yet to send me a bill for pointing me to the tiny twig.
