THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

I have not always followed the ten commandments. I don’t know anyone who has throughout the entirety of their life.

The one I have the most difficult time with is the one regarding sexual purity. I am a very passionate person and I love physical intimacy. When I was younger I had great difficulty with this commandment.

When I turned 50 I began to think I needed to grow up. A little late, I know, but let me remind you that some people never do mature.

Part of my maturation was learning to not only talk the Christian talk but walk the Christian walk.

It has been a challenge.

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day about the weaknesses within my character. I told her that I did not want to have sex outside of marriage again because I didn’t think that real love could not walk down the same path as lust.

As I reflect upon the Word of God I realize that the commandment regarding sexual purity is largely placed in the Bible for the protection of women.

Women view sex as an act of love. Men view it as a physical release.

Knowing that women love with their heart, our heavenly Father desires that a covenant of marriage protect the heart of His daughters. It is this covenant which serves as a covering for His girls and it is one which He delights in being a part of.

Having sex outside of marriage diminishes the covenant of marriage and opens the door to the Devil. For if you open the door to love with sin do you honestly think that God is going to be a part of that?

The ten commandments say that we should love God first, then from that point on it is all about loving others. Jesus said if you loved God you would follow His commandments.

Do not be deceived into thinking that the devil wants you just to have fun and God is a drag. God wants so much more than that for you. He wants you to be content and to feel loved but He wants that love to also be a protection over you.
