THE DOWNSIDE OF OBAMACARE

One thing I detest is incompetent people. I am not saying I am competent all of the time but I try my hardest to be so.

Lately I have had to change doctors due to Obamacare. I didn’t have a problem with my old doctor and I don’t particularly dislike my new one but my new one won’t treat my ADHD unless she has my old records.

Apparently it takes an act of congress to get records transferred from one office to another.

I initially thought it would be a problem, so I tried to offset the problem by taking my medical release form, in person, to my old doctor’s office. A week went by and I stopped by my new doctor’s office and they said they hadn’t gotten the records.

So I called my old doctor’s office and heard the medical records lady’s story about how she was doing two people’s jobs. I like her and I know she is a good lady so I listened to her story. Then I asked her to look through her papers for the medical release form and fax my records as soon as it was possible.

Then I stopped by my new doctor’s office and checked. They hadn’t gotten them yet. So I called my old doctor’s office and asked them what was up. She said she had faxed them twice and they had a very busy fax number. That was weird because I had been in their office several times and not once had I seen any action from the fax machine.

So I called her again and she said that she could email them. So I stopped by my new doctor’s office to get her business card and took that to my old doctor’s office so that they would have the correct email address.

I haven’t had time to check again but I am about ready to go all nasty on both of the offices because it is their job, not mine, to transfer the medical records. I do my job, I wish they would do theirs.

I know a lot of people are upset with Obamacare because they have had to change doctors. I am not particularly fond of it, at this point in time. The longer it takes me to get this mess straightened out, the less fond I become of Obamacare. Other than this mess, which Obama doesn’t have anything to do with, I don’t mind the program and I am getting my insurance for a fraction of the cost.

I am hoping I like my new doctor as much as my old one. If I don’t get my medical records transferred I will not have the chance to find out because she refuses to see me until that happens. Quite the predicament to be in. I can only imagine how difficult it is for someone who has a life threatening illness to go through this mess.

  1. My husband’s company offered the same type of insurance as before, with added restrictive HMO, and PPO plans. We could choose, so we chose the one which included all our doctors on their preferred list. Our premiums changed as they do each and every year, but our coverage is exactly the same. My primary doctor that I have been seeing for 8 years now, has started her own private practice. It took 6 months to get my records transferred. It had nothing to do with The Affordable Healthcare Act…just people who work glacially slow.

I think a lot of people don’t understand that it is the company you work for who is deciding which insurance to offer their employees. Unless self-employed, and having to purchase insurance, it is the corporations to blame, not the Affordable Healthcare Act.

    1. I agree with the perspective to not blame the president for the inefficiency of some offices. I am thankful for Obamacare and for the first time in years I can actually afford my health insurance. Yesterday my records finally got emailed to my new doctor and I got the prescription I had requested for my ADHD. I am sorry you had to wait 6 months for your records to be transferred makes me look like a whiner considering I got mine transferred within a month. All in all I think Obamacare is a wonderful gift to the American citizens. I continue to keep President Obama in my prayers. He has a role which would be difficult for anyone to be successful at.
