I have observed people who are bound by materialism. They constantly are caught up in the pursuit of things.
They think that if they buy one more item or that luxury car then the happiness will come.
This pursuit of happiness is elusive.
As they continue to strive for more things there is a development of harshness in their souls. Because when you strive for things this is what rules your heart.
They then become obsessed with taking care of their things, protecting them and making sure the things look perfect. It becomes a way of life for them to scream at people if their things are not treated correctly.
They use other people to tend to their things. The people whom they are supposed to love feel used and worthless in comparison to their things.
This is not how humans are supposed to live. We are supposed to love each other, not things. We are supposed to protect and care for those who are downtrodden and hurting, not abuse them in the pursuit of more things.
Beware dear ones if things become an idol in your life, for if they do they will sit on your throne and not God. It may be wise to consider how many of those things you can take with you when you die. I dare say not nary a one will follow you into death and after death, well then there is eternity…
