When I arrived at the Coliseum where my son was graduating I figured I better make a pit stop in the restroom before attending the event. Graduations can be a very long affair.
I had no idea that this pitstop would present the opportunity to be Christ in someone’s life.
As I stood in line to go to the bathroom I noticed that the beautiful elderly lady in front of me had a service dog. I also noticed she was very frail.
With one hand holding the leash of the service dog I figured it may be a bit difficult for her to hold the door open to the bathroom. So I did that for her.
I quickly did my “business” in the stall and then washed my hands. I saw her dog underneath her stall.
I waited for her to come out and while she was washing her right hand, grabbed a couple of paper towels for her to dry her hands.
Then I walked to the exit door and held that open for her so that she could walk out and reunite with her companion.
It was such a little thing to do but during the act she blessed me and told me “God love you” and at the end called me an angel.
I know I am no angel but I think in that small moment of time I may have shown her the love of Christ.
I would like to challenge my audience to keep a look out for people such as this; the frail, the handicapped and the homeless.
They have so few people who are tending to them and it makes such a difference if you lend a hand.
All it takes is a moment of time but it may just be a moment when you present yourself as Christ to someone who may not have ever seen Him.
Isn’t that what being a Christian is all about?
