SPECIAL PEOPLE

God made each one of us unique and special. So special that He sacrificed His only son for our sins.

He gave some people a higher intellect. Some were given great organizational skills. Others seem destined to be joyful.

Yesterday I was having lunch with my boyfriend when I saw a very joyful young lady who was walking past our booth.

I looked at her legs first and although she could walk just fine they were deformed. As my eyes traveled up to her face I broke out in a huge smile. She was exuding joy.

She was talking about having therapy and she was beaming from ear to ear.

I must have given her a loving look because one of the ladies in the party returned the gaze. This lady said so many things back to me in her gaze. Her eyes spoke understanding, compassion and gratitude for the way I looked at the young lady.

I have known many people in my lifetime who can walk just fine. I know many who are wealthy. I have had the privilege of being friends with highly intelligent people.

I have known very few whose fountain of joy was flowing over like this young lady’s. It was one of the most beautiful sites I have ever seen.

I can be very critical of myself most days but I am thankful that God has given me an appreciation and love for others which were created differently. Because of the way He created me I was able to rejoice in the uniqueness and exquisite beauty of someone whose spirit was a fountain of joy.

My challenge to you, my readers, is to give those who are handicapped a hug, a warm smile or lend a hand to help them this Easter.

In some small way, I think God may consider that an egg in His Easter basket.
