I read The Great Gatsby in high school. It was  required reading and after reading it I had no moments of admiration or awe for the literary classic.

I think that Leonardo DiCaprio is a great talent and I enjoy watching him act. So when my son wanted to go see the movie I was all in on that idea.

I thought the movie was superb. The costumes and settings displayed luxurious extravagance and Leonardo, of course, was brilliant.

I thought the movie was grand but my son was a bit disappointed. He said the book was better.

I didn’t remember the book being that great.

Then my older son sent me a link to the twitter account of Jay Gatsby and I was floored. The book is flooded with stellar quotes.

I am going to have to find it in my library and read it all over again.

As I reflected on this I thought about my favorite group of people, the readers of this blog. I have a category devoted to Quotes but I have not posted much under this category.

I do believe that short snippets of conversation may indeed be more powerful than long explanations. So as I continue to develop this blog I will try to pull quotes out from my writings that have the potential to impact people.

You are free to pass these along but you are not free to plagierize  my quotes. If you do I will certainly set you straight in a very short matter of time.

Likewise if I use quotes from any other person’s work I will promise to give adequate honor to them by posting their name and the work from which I got the quote.
