I could not finish my laundry at the laundromat last night because their big washer was out of order.
My friend, Mary, told me about another laundromat that I could go to that was on Denton Highway.
She said it was immaculate.
So this morning after my coffee I headed out for another day at the laundromat.
I walked in being a bit confused about which washer to use. Within a few seconds I was approached by the owner, Wisam.
He pointed me to the largest washers. There were two large washers. I hesitated in taking both of them because there only two.
He said, “Go ahead, it will only take 28 minutes to wash and if anyone else wants them they can just wait.”
He then helped me stuff my large couch cushions in both of them.
Mary had mentioned that she thought the owners were from Israel. So I asked him where he was from.
He said Egypt. I asked him a few more questions and he started telling me about Egypt.
I felt as if I had just been given a pot of gold.
Wisam was kind enough to give me his story on the political situation that Egypt is currently involved in. I learned more from him within a span of an hour than I would have learned from a week of reading books or listening to news shows.
The most important thing I learned was that Egyptian people are happy with their new president. It is important that Americans know this and do not interfere.
We talked politics, religion and tourist areas to visit when I go visit there. (Which hopefully will be soon. I also want to go visit Israel. Then there is the European continent, South America and Africa on my bucket list.)
He told me about where Jesus had been and I got a sense that if I ever had the opportunity to visit that land or Israel it would be a life changing experience.
The greatest aspect of this jaunt was that I got a personal and unbiased viewpoint on what was happening in a foreign country from someone who had lived there. For a writer that is pure gold.
But alas, I was there to launder my couch cushions. How did that turn out?
My cushions to my couch came out perfect.
Mary was right, it was immaculate in appearance. That is due to the expert management of Wisam and his brother who are owners of the establishment.
More than that I got expert customer service from the owner no less. (Kind of made me feel like I was a rock star or something.)
Wisam did not sit in his office. He continually walked through the laundromat looking for whom to help. He helped me load all of my laundry and also helped me take my clean laundry to the car. This is the owner mind you, not an attendant.
This laundromat is entitled Denton Highway Laundromat. It will be getting 5 stars when I write my reviews and I would encourage anyone who has laundry to do to go to this laundromat.
If you go tell my new friend, Wisam, Gracie Lynne says,”Hi!”
