THE COLD OF WINTER

Hut in WinterAs the winter winds attack the crevices and cracks in the foundation of my house, my concern is to obtain comfort and warmth and to provide the same for those I love. I even bought my feral cats a new warm blanket for their house outside.

Earlier in the season of cold I had called my sister-in-law and she said she was enjoying a cup of hot chocolate. That sounded so luxurious to me and I realized I hadn’t indulged in that luxury for years.

So I dug in my cabinet for those packs of hot chocolate and made myself a cup, and was sorely disappointed with the quality.

The weatherman warned that the man of winter was on his way back for the next few days. As the sharp winds stomp through my brush and trees in my back yard I knew that hot chocolate was going to have to go down a different road.

I was going to grab it by the neck and search for a new recipe. One that I could ensure would be quality.

I searched yesterday afternoon and happened upon a recipe.

I waited until my daughter was home and upon her request made the luxurious drink. It tasted like heaven and I am not even that fond of chocolate.

Being that it was so very easy and also being that I am a generous soul who loves to share I have decided to share the recipe with you.

1 cup milk

1/2 cup cream

Warm on stove stirring constantly until the mixture boils slightly. Then put in 10 oz of milk chocolate chips and stir until the chips dissolve.

Actually the stinking chocolate chip bags are like 11.5 oz and no one is going to arrest you if you dump in the whole bag so just go ahead and do that.  Cause as you probably guessed, that is exactly what I did. lol

Then pour the hot chocolate mixture over a layer of miniature marshmallows in a coffee cup, put your feet up and either watch a good movie or open a good book and enjoy.

This recipe makes about 2-3 cups of hot chocolate so invite someone over to share with if you have someone to invite. If not, you can cut the recipe in half and enjoy it yourself because you are just that awesome and wonderful!
